my fringe tour blog.

April 2008
Hello everyone and welcome to what is going to be my first ever blog. I am hoping to use this blog to discuss my ongoing tour of Canada and my soon to be fringe festival adventures.

At the moment i am living in Kingston Ontario where i am re-devising and preparing my new show: It is better to ride the dung beetle than tread on soft carpet.

June 2008

Hey, what a crazy couple of months My work in progress performed at The Artel in Kingston was a great success and again a big thank you to everyone who made it there.

I have finally made the move to Montreal and so far it has been great. At the moment i am rehearsing a lot for my upcoming show at The Infringement Festival. I have been working on some new material which i have developed for It is better to ride the dung beetle than to tread on soft carpet. My work at the moment seems to be an ongoing organic process with a mind of its own!

The summer is finaly here and i am looking forward to the Infringement it is gonna be full of great performers so if you are in Montreal come check it out.

Hello again,

The Infringement is now over and I had a great time. It was really cool to meet so many people dedicated and passionate about creating new and exciting ways to view and perform theatre. My performance was on the same night as the fantastic Hoola Vache who wowed the crowd with there cowgirl antics, and i would like to say again – Francine and Ginette you girls rock !!

Although a small and independent fringe The Infringement ethos of do-it-yourself performance has got to be admired and encouraged. It was a great way to get me warmed up and ready for what is going to be hopefully a happy and successful summer fringe tour.

Also a big thank you to Becky Fox who sent me a great photo of my performance:

July 2008

Hi everyone,

Well I am finally on my way to Saskatoon to take part in my first ever Canadian Fringe Festival and I have to confess I am really excited.

It was sad to say goodbye to Montreal, although I had only been there 3 months I have met so many amazing people and had such great experiences it was certainly a departure tinged with sadness….

..but the show must go on and the long journey West has now started. At the moment I am in Thunder Bay, Ontario having a wee break before arriving in Saskatoon. It has been a very pleasant and relaxed place to spend a few days. The sun has been shining and I have been rehearsing outdoors in the garden which has felt great.

Back on the road again tomorrow for a mammoth 22 hour Journey to Saskatoon !!

will write more when I get there

Aug 2008

Hey y’all

I am now in Edmonton, Alberta and feeling elated, exhausted and excited all at once. Saskatoon Fringe was great and we had an amazing time there. The week went by so fast and was a roller coaster of emotions. It was fantastic to meet all the other artists and gain so much from their expertise. Although a small festival Saskatoon had a great friendly atmosphere and was a perfect way to ease us in gently to our first ever Canadian Fringe Adventure. Now, once again we have to arm ourselves with sticky tape, posters and flyers and spread the news about the show.

wish us luck

Lucy
